Frequently Asked Questions
What does a psychiatric nurse practitioner do? How is this different from a Psychiatrist?
A PMHNP (Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner) is a licensed provider trained to evaluate, diagnose, treat, and prescribe for mental health conditions. Psychiatrists are medical doctors with additional specialized training in psychiatry. Both PMHNPs and psychiatrists are highly skilled, but they come from different educational backgrounds and training paths with PMHNPs bringing a nursing prospective and patient-centered approach and psychiatrists bringing extensive medical training for more complex conditions.
Do you provide therapy? How are you different from a therapist?
I provide brief therapy alongside medication management. I’ve completed additional therapy trainings, but I know my limits. Many people also see a therapist for a deeper or specialized approach, with me providing support outside of therapy sessions. I love collaborating with therapists and am happy to coordinate care with yours.
What do you treat? Are there medications that you cannot prescribe?
I primarily work with young to middle-aged adults who experience anxiety, depression, OCD, mood disorders, and trauma. I do not prescribe stimulant medications, but I can prescribe non-stimulant options for ADHD. In New York, I am not able to prescribe any controlled substances, including certain sleep or anxiety medications. If you are already taking these medications, I can still help with other aspects of your care and collaborate with your current provider to ensure coordinated support.
Do you accept insurance?
I am in network with many major insurance plans (Aetna, Anthem, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Cigna and Evernorth, Carelon Behavioral Health, GEHA, Oscar, Optum, Oxford, UMR, and UHC), utilizing the billing platform Headway. I also accept self-pay patients can provide a super bill for you to submit for out of network reimbursement to your insurance. Rates for self pay are $275 for an initial appointment and range from $150-200 for follow ups depending on the length of the appointment. I accept most major credit cards as well as FSA/HSA.
Where and when do you see patients?
I provide care entirely through secure telehealth visits for adults in Ohio and New York. Appointments are available on weekdays with early morning and daytime hours, typically starting as early as 7:30 AM and continuing through the afternoon.
How do I schedule an appointment and what should I expect after I schedule?
You can schedule an appointment using the “Book Now” button at the top of the page. Right now, my self-schedule availability my be somewhat limited due to other commitments, but this is temporary. If you don’t see a time that works, you can submit a request through the contact form, and I’ll do my best to offer an available slot within my standard weekday hours. After scheduling, you’ll receive any necessary forms from our Electronic Health Record system (Simple Practice) and billing platform (Headway). While some initial forms may feel redundant, future communications (except billing) will be through Simple Practice.
What is the best way to contact you if I have any questions?

New or Prospective patients: Please use the contact form at the bottom of this page to ask questions or request information.
